Dr. Cara Flamer is a Family Physician who specializes in hormone optimization using natural hormones. After graduating from Queen’s University Medical School, Dr. Flamer moved to Toronto to complete her training in Family Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital through the University of Toronto.
During her residency, Dr. Flamer began to develop her strong passion for Integrative Medicine, a field of medicine which integrates many streams of proven healing modalities.
She began studying an ancient form of spirituality and cultivated her understanding of the role of consciousness and thoughts in health. To strengthen her knowledge in these areas she took courses and worked with various practitioners, which helped her achieve a more evolved version of herself, ready to help the world in a new way.
Dr. Flamer began her extensive training in bioidentical hormone replacement (BHRT) for women with well-known pioneer in the field of natural hormone replacement, Dr. Alvin Pettle. Dr. Flamer has also completed additional training in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine through the University of Southern Florida, College of Medicine. On a personal note, Dr. Flamer’s primary passion is to empower people to awaken their own inner healer. Her understanding of the various levels of healing- physical, emotional, and energetic techniques enable her to blend western medicine with various evidence-based complementary modalities, including energy medicine, naturopathic medicine and strengthening the mind-body connection.
At GSH Medical, our goal is to help you as proactively as you can. We start by addressing your hormone levels: hormone levels decline with age, and in many cases aging leads to low hormone levels in the tissue. Because hormones are required for hundreds of reactions in the body, if your tissue levels are low your health may suffer. If adequate levels of hormone are maintained, the result is that the cellular, metabolic and chemical reactions in your tissue required for normal physiology will be maintained. This reduces your risk of chronic diseases associated with aging. In addition to this, whatever symptoms you had that were a result of deficient hormones will be reduced or eliminated. We use bio-identical hormones to help us restore this balance.
Everyone comes with a unique set of genetics, environmental influences, nutrition status and state of health. There may be factors contributing to your health picture besides hormones. Ultimately, aging well and being “healthy” depends on optimal functioning of various systems of your body, such as your gastrointestinal, immune system, and cardiovascular system. Nutrition, environmental exposures, stress and emotional well-being are also important factors that we need to take into account.
We invite you to meet with Dr Flamer to discuss possible hormonal and non-hormonal integrative medical approaches to your health you may benefit from.
