Chiropractor FAQ

How safe is chiropractic treatment?

A treatment by one of GSH Medical’s certified chiropractors is very safe. Chiropractic medicine is a widely accepted medical profession and is based around drug-free, non-invasive treatments that target muscle, joint pain and aliments.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No. A referral is not required to be seen and treated by a GSH Medical (formally known as East Liberty) chiropractor. We do however welcome patients who are referred by their family doctor and referrals can be provided by a walk-in doctor.

What does an initial chiropractic assessment entail?

At the initial chiropractic assessment the chiropractor will take a thorough history of the patient with a focus on a physical assessment. This detailed assessment will help the chiropractor identify specific factors that may compound or cause pain. By identifying these factors the chiropractor can tailor a treatment plan that addresses the specific needs of the patient. After the assessment the chiropractor will initiate the initial chiropractic treatment. The initial assessment and chiropractic treatment will last between 40-60 minutes.

Does the chiropractor take X-Rays?

In most cases the chiropractor will not need to take X-Rays. On rare occasions chiropractors may order x-rays in severe cases of pain and stiffness.

How many chiropractic treatments will I need?

Every case is different, however many patients report improvements in their condition after just a few chiropractic treatments (usually 6-8). GSH Medical’s (formally known as East Liberty) chiropractors will assess the patient at every appointment and make changes to the patient’s treatment plan as required.

Will insurance cover my chiropractic treatments?

The short answer is yes. The majority of Toronto workers have partial to full coverage for chiropractic health. Other insurance plans such as extended health plans or vehicle insurance also provide coverage for chiropractic treatments. GSH Medical (formally known as East Liberty) will provide patients with detailed receipts for chiropractic services which can be presented to insurance companies for reimbursement.
